P.E. at John Ray Junior School
P.E. lessons cover a broad range of sports and activities. we also offer P.E. related extra-curricular clubs throughout the year. We use the indoor and outdoor environments where appropriate.
P.E. kit is expected to be kept in school during term time. Children should have a plain white t-shirt, black shorts and plimsolls or lightweight trainers. All items of kit, including the P.E. bag, should be clearly named in order that they can be returned if lost.
Jewellery must not be worn. If earrings cannot be removed by the child, they should not be worn on P.E. days. It is recommended that children wearing tights keep a pair of socks in their P.E. bag to wear with their plimsolls. Children with long hair should ensure they have a small band wih which they can tie it back.
We encourage children belonging to sports clubs and teams out of school to share their experiences and achievements with others. This may be done via our Monday celebration assemblies, where certificates, trophies, medals etc may be brought in to be shown to the school.
Each week during our celebration assembly, the P.E. cup is awarded to a Year 3 or Year 4 class and a Year 5 or Year 6 class who have stood out for, amongst other things, effort, achievement, organisation or who have demonstrated any of our learning powers especially well.
